Web designer and accessibility auditor

Hello, I work as a freelance web developer and accessibility auditor ( I also like to do a little photography from time to time) and I specialise in “accessible design” built to international standards as laid down by the W3C.

What does this mean?

Validated xHTML (the stuff that makes it display)
Validated CSS (the stuff that makes it pretty)
Validated for accessibility (more visitors can use your site)

Why do this?

There are hundreds of millions of people globally who have problems accessing the vast majority of web sites to some degree. Simply put, potential new users / customers / clients

Who are these people?

These are some of the issues:
Visual - blind, low vision, color blind;
Auditory - deaf, hard of hearing;
Motor/physical - very elderly, paraplegic;
Cognitive/learning - dyslexic, learning disabled.

And...

Make your site easier to manage and therefore more efficient
Satisfy legal requirements now and in the future
Make your web site usable in browsers in addition to Internet Explorer
Increase your traffic

And help others too

People who use speech browsers or hands free kit such as businessmen in cars.
People who have old browser technology or browse without graphics.
Groups who surf with slow modems such as some rural communities.
View web sites in non-conducive environments such as noisy, high or low-light environments.

My other services include…

Graphic design – logos, banners etc.
Content Management Systems Integration – For easy updating and maintenance.
Flash Design.
